![]() ![]() He starts with Beowulf and a blue spectral version of Dante’s sword. Vergil also has access to half of Dante’s arsenal. It retains much of the functionality you’re no doubt familiar with and it’s fast and satisfying to use. He has Yamato, which adds in an entirely new weapon that is a blast to use, as it always is. ![]() However, with character swapping mods, we’ll be able to do this with ease regardless, so it’s not like that functionality is impossible.īut how is Vergil, you ask? He’s great, albeit extremely similar to Dante. Unfortunately, you’ll still have to play Devil May Cry 5‘s default story mode to use the others, which is a giant missed opportunity. If they can allow you to play a version of the story mode with Vergil plugged in and nothing else, they’d easily be able to let you do it with the other three characters. One thing that does disappoint me is that I was hoping there would be the ability to do the same with the other three characters. Suffice to say, he’s been dropped in and it’s obviously non-canonical.īut I’m glad to have it, as Vergil can even go into V’s levels. Don’t expect there to be any reasoning applied regarding what he’s doing in these missions, though. It’s a short scene but it fills in the blanks a tiny bit, which I appreciated. It begins with an all-new cutscene showing Vergil taking Yamato back from Nero and preparing to use it to become Urizen. Every last mission can now be played with Vergil. Surprisingly, the story mode is the entire thing with the vast majority of the cutscenes stripped. But the question stands: is it worth it?ĭevil May Cry V‘s Vergil DLC adds Vergil to the story mode and Bloody Palace. The Vergil DLC costs $5 and adds everybody’s favorite samurai sword Dante into the game, no mods or broken movesets required. However, we d o get Vergil, which is what I wanted the most to begin with, so it’s not all bad. So, no, we don’t get turbo mode or the new difficulty. What was surprising was that PC players wouldn’t get it, just like with DmC. After all, the third and fourth games got one. Unfortunately though, there are no plans to bring Devil May Cry 5 Special Edition to PC, just Vergil Mode. When the Special Edition of Devil May Cry 5 was announced, it wasn’t a huge surprise. Current-gen systems will get a slice of the action too, as Vergil Mode will launch on PS4, Xbox One and PC at a currently unspecified point in time. Devil May Cry 5 Special Edition will release on launch day for the Xbox Series X as well as the PS5. It will be an early showcase of the next-gen power to boot. As the first Capcom title on next-gen, it will show the might of the upgraded RE Engine complete with 4K resolution, 3D Audio and up to 120FPS. Of course, DMC5 Special Edition also features a host of technical improvements. ![]() The second is Turbo Mode, which ratchets the game’s speed up by 20 percent, making an already frenetic game even faster. The first is Legendary Dark Knight, which sends the number of enemies present through the roof. However, after mastering the game's mechanics, these new modes will offer a conduit for seasoned players to test their mettle. Two new modes being added, both of will be absolute hell for series novices.
